Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring celestial beings, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of characters who will branch out from the main group to embark on their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team includes Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three separate parties: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might look out of place, but the developments of episode 3 show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group understands precisely where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to auction.
Casimir then settled his liabilities and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Character Drivers
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the group enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor swore a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The cleric defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This leaves them few options but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
